Overview
The Senior Accountant is responsible for reconciling account balances and bank statements,maintaining the general ledger, preparing month-end close procedures, accounts receivable andpayable, and payroll processes.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
- Produce and present error-free accounting reports
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
- Participate in the financial forecast process
- Provide input into the department's goal-setting process
- Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
- Assist with tax audits and tax returns
- Works closely with managing directors to process and reconcile client accounts
- Reconcile bi-monthly payroll; prepare direct deposits and checks
- Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Develop and document accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
- Liaise with the CFO and Accounting Manager to improve financial procedures
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related degree
- 3-5 years of accounting experience
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
- Track record of working independently
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant certification, CMA or CPA
- Knowledge of Quickbooks, NetSuite, or other accounting software
