Senior Accountant

Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for reconciling account balances and bank statements,maintaining the general ledger, preparing month-end close procedures, accounts receivable andpayable, and payroll processes.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
• Produce and present error-free accounting reports
• Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
• Participate in the financial forecast process
• Provide input into the department's goal-setting process
• Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
• Assist with tax audits and tax returns
• Works closely with managing directors to process and reconcile client accounts
• Reconcile bi-monthly payroll; prepare direct deposits and checks
• Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Develop and document accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
• Liaise with the CFO and Accounting Manager to improve financial procedures

Required Qualifications:

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related degree
• 3-5 years of accounting experience
• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Familiarity with financial accounting statements
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
• Track record of working independently

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant certification, CMA or CPA
• Knowledge of Quickbooks, NetSuite, or other accounting software
